Pullman was born in Brocton, New York March 3, 1831. 1858 he moved to Chicago, Illinois. In Pullman’s childhood he didn’t go to school after grade four. He started work at a young age. Then after he was out of school he moved to New York to work at his uncle’s store. When he was seven-teen he moved to Albion to see his parents and to work. When he got older he invented the Pullman sleeping car. That made him very wealthy. He made most of his money by inventing stuff and by working in stores since he was very young. Some interesting facts about George Mortimer Pullman are he developed many things like the Pullman sleeping car; he made railroad coaches so people could travel a long distance. He also made the pioneer about five years later. He founded the Pullman Palace Car Company. When he was young he became a cabinet maker. He married Harriet Sanger in 1867. They had 4 children. His cause of death was a heart failure. He was buried in Graceland Cemetery.
